Spa Start Up
Before you begin, it is important to know how big your spa is. My spa is _________ gallons
Step One
A. Remove all filters and begin filling the spa. Check to see if the filters are clean. If not, you should do so before re-installing them later. Most common method is to spray with a high pressure hose.
Add ________ oz Protect Plus ( 2 oz per 250 gallons) while the spa is filling. This sequestering agent will prevent mineral scale formation and metals present in the water from staining the spa surface.
B. Now is a good time to test the water's pH. While you won't add anything now, it will give you a good indication of what you'll need to do a little later. Finish filling the spa to the proper water level.
C. Turn the spa on. Once water is visibly circulating, turn the power back off and re-install your filters. Turn power back on and set desired temperature.
If error codes are displayed on the topside control, or water is not visibly moving in the spa, turn the power back off and consult your owners manual or contact us for the proper procedure.
Step Two
A. Balance the water. Refer to the results from step B above or test the water again. Add Spa Up or Spa Down according to label directions to adjust the spa water pH to the ideal range of 7.2 to 7.8. Once the pH is in the ideal range, if needed adjust the total alkalinity to the ideal range of 80-120ppm (parts per million) with total alkalinity up.
Step Three
A. Add Sanitizer. Begin disinfecting the water by adding Enhance/Oxy-Brite, Brominating Tablets, or Granular Chlorine.
Enhance/Oxy-Brite: Add _________ oz Enhance (4 oz per 250 Gallons) to the spa water. Next add _________ oz Oxy-Brite (1 oz per 250 Gallons) to literally activate the Enhance into an active bromine sanitizer.
Brominating Tablets: Add _________ oz Enhance (2 oz per 250 Gallons) to establish a "Bromine Bank". Next, add Brominating tablets to a floater and place in spa. Number of tablets is dependent on the size of the tub, but generally 1 tablet per 100 gallons is a good place to begin.
Granular Chlorine: Add _________ teaspoon (1.25 teaspoons per 250 gallons) Granular Chlorine
Spa Chemical Weekly Maintenance
Enhance/OxyBrite System
After Every Other Spa Use
After every other spa use, add OxyBrite (1 oz./250 gals.) If bather load is heavy, add OxyBrite after each use.
Test sanitizer level after allowing OxyBrite to circulate for 15 minutes.
At Least once per Week
Test pH and total alkalinity with 4-Way Test Strips and adjust levels as necessary.
Add Protect Plus to sequester metals and minerals at the rate of 1 oz. per 250 gals.
Add Enhance to replenish bromide residual at the rate of 1 oz. per 250 gals.
Add Clarifier to help filtration at the rate of 1 oz per 250 gals.
